Made for our Environment and Level Design module, this city was made in Unreal Engine 5 inspired by a combination of different East Asian cities, particularly Chongqing, China. For its creation, I made use of level design concepts such as leading lines and landmarks. From this project I gained significant experience in working on lighting and map design.
Although the project was primarily about the level and environment, the project still needed to be a playable game. The gameplay is a beat-’em-up third person action game, with the player taking the role of a ninja fighting their way through security guards to reach the castle on the other side of the river. The player has a range of attacks and movement abilities to help with fighting against groups of enemies. With the gameplay taking inspiration from titles like Yakuza 0 and Shenmue.
For this project we used websites like Sketchfab and Mixamo for models and character animations
